We're now only two weeks away from the unveiling of the 2012 Polaris Music Prize Short List.<\/p>\n

That means all our jurors<\/a> are deep in the middle of actually listening to all the albums they were supposed to have already listened to after the first round of voting.<\/p>\n

We're not sweating them, though. Their efforts are yielding some bonus results in the form of intense analysis like that found here<\/a> and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While all that's going on our favourite people, the Polaris People, continued to do interesting things this week. <\/p>\n

On the 2012 Polaris Music Prize Long List beat we've recently learned that…<\/p>\n

… Lindi Ortega<\/strong>'s pretty hot<\/a> for cherry bourbon.<\/p>\n

… Grimes<\/strong> thinks Marilyn Manson's awesome<\/a>.<\/p>\n

… Parlovr <\/strong>are looking to get bookings<\/a> at bachelorette parties.<\/p>\n

… Rich Aucoin<\/strong>'s been getting grief from Weakerthans<\/strong>' Jason Tait about what he'd do with the money <\/a>if he won the Polaris.<\/p>\n

… and A Tribe Called Red<\/strong> have been resonating not just nationally, but internationally<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

Current Long Lister and two-time past Short Lister Cadence Weapon<\/strong> has been busy. He did a fascinating<\/a> interview for The Bez, been talking<\/a> to the A.V. Club peeps, booked<\/a> some tour dates with Liars, got reviewed<\/a> on Chromewaves and had his album â\u20ac\u0153Hope In Dirt Cityâ\u20ac declared<\/a> one of the best so far this year.<\/p>\n

Joel Plaskett,<\/strong> like Cadence Weapon, is also a two-time past Short Lister and current Long Lister. Some folks don't yet know who he is, though, so the peeps at Fredericton's Best Rock, 105.3 The Fox are helping out<\/a> on that front.<\/p>\n

Reigning Polaris champs Arcade Fire<\/strong> apparently gave<\/a> Emily Blunt an almost case of the vapours. They also, apparently, signed to Merge Records because of the food<\/a> and won<\/a> something called a Libera Award.<\/p>\n

In the contests we didn't know were contests department, the band Jaunty would like the world to know that they’re more gay<\/a> than past Polaris nominees Tegan And Sara<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
