Wow. What a week. <\/p>\n

You’re all aware that Feist<\/strong> is the 2012 Polaris Music Prize champion<\/a> for her album Metals<\/em>, right?<\/p>\n

Congratulations, Leslie.<\/p>\n

But let’s talk about the whole Polaris Gala that took place on Monday, September 24. There was Cadence Weapon<\/strong>‘s crazy preacherman outro to \u00ab\u00a0Conditioning,\u00a0\u00bb Kathleen Edwards<\/strong>‘ rallying cry speech, Grimes<\/strong> and her pole dancing buddy Gary, Cold Specks<\/strong> summoning ghosts, Damian from Fucked Up<\/strong> keeping his shirt on during a performance… for some of it, anyway, YAMANTAKA \/\/ SONIC TITAN<\/strong> being, well, themselves, and that confessional speech from Handsome Furs<\/strong>‘ Alexei Perry. Man, we are all honourbound to give that gal a solidarity hug the next time we see her.<\/p>\n

There’s still a chance to experience all of this. Highlights from the Gala will air in a one-hour special, exclusively on MuchMusic, on Saturday, September 29 at 10 p.m. ET. <\/p>\n

Let’s look at the aftermath:<\/p>\n

First of all, Feist sent <\/a>us a Valentine’s card. It’s super-sweet because we choo-choo-choose<\/a> her, too.<\/p>\n

The Grid’s Polaris coverage was distilled<\/a> into its tumblrific inevitable – gifs.<\/p>\n

The only close contender in visual storytelling department would be Brooklyn Vegan’s photo essaying<\/a> of the evening.<\/p>\n

Over at the Toronto Standard they’re coming to terms<\/a> with their rage. Or post-rage. Or something.<\/p>\n

Pop Matters had Feist pegged <\/a>as the unlikely underdog.<\/p>\n

Chromewaves has a thorough roundup<\/a> that also includes the consumption of gin and tonics.<\/p>\n

And there’s also substantial coverage from The Globe And Mail<\/a>, CBC<\/a>, Rolling Stone<\/a>, Toronto Star<\/a>, Canadian Press<\/a>, Spinner<\/a> and Exclaim<\/a>, amongst others.<\/p>\n

Some Polaris People took to twitter to talk about the result.<\/p>\n

Cadence Weapon shouted out to Grimes, YAMANTAKA \/\/ SONIC TITAN and Fucked Up and gave \u00ab\u00a0props<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb to Feist.
\nCW<\/p>\n

Grimes also sent out her congratulations<\/a> to Feist. Not coincidentally, Feist thought Grimes was going to win on Monday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kathleen Edwards called it<\/a> in the middle of Feist’s performance during the Polaris Gala.<\/p>\n

Oh, and first year Polaris champ Owen Pallett wants to erect <\/a>a Leslie Feist statue. <\/p>\n
