Artist Bio
Len Bowen is a hip hop artist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A skilled lyricist, his catalogue spans from honest and thought-provoking
meditations to fierce battle-ready verses. His artistry balances raw energy with reflection, establishing him as one of the most distinctive voices in Canadian hip hop.
Len’s journey began in 1995 as a founding member of the WMCA-nominated group Different Shades of Black, a collective that helped shape Winnipeg’s emerging hip hop scene. Over the years, Len has evolved from group member to solo artist, carving out a career defined by
consistency, growth, and a commitment to craft.
Building on that foundation, Len released the album If You Don’t See Me, You Saw Me. Produced by Polaris Prize–shortlisted artist Junia-T, with additional production from Shinogo and Slang Hugh, the record pairs warm, textured beats with Bowen’s vivid lyricism, exploring
themes of perseverance, love, loss, and self-definition. Guest features from DijahSB, JRDN, Odario, and Faiza add a diverse palette of voices to a release that feels both deeply personal and universal.
Len continues to develop If You Don’t See Me, You Saw Me through a series of focused EPs drawn from key
tracks. Each release expands the emotional and thematic scope of the project. Upcoming
EPs include Forward (Faawud), Run Away, Pt. 2 (Don’t Look Back), and Angels.
