Artist Bio

NARCY is known as the first rapper in the West of Iraqi Descent. He is a highly respected artist outside of the music industry, regarded as a multi-disciplinary thinker. His professorship at his Concordia University had him go viral for his unique approach to Syllabus – focusing social issues through the lens of prominent artists Ye, Dave Chappelle and Kendrick Lamar. His musical collaborations have been short of legendary – working closely with yasiin bey, A Tribe Called Red Yo-Yo Ma, Todd Rundgren and Hip-Hops’ best lyricists. NARCY is a force to reckon with, an independent maven and a futurist. He currently runs a cultural hub and bookshop MAKTABA, where he is releasing his music strictly through merchandise and physical media, while fully entrenched in a visual arts and authorship practice through his production house, We Are The Medium. He is the main lyricist and voice on No SmokIng Allowed.

Buddha Blaze is NARCY’s DJ and longtime collaborator. As a formative member of the Hip-Hop community in Montréal, Budda runs “Off The Hook” radio for the last 20 years, putting Hip-Hop in the city on the map and a space where the majority of rappers found their chops. He started his musical journey in indigenous rap group the FBI Jedis, followed by a stint tour managing A Tribe Called Red. He is the main reason NARCY and Tribe collaborated on their seminal song “R.E.D.”. Buddha Blaze is the producer behind the album, culminating a 20 year friendship with NARCY on this unique album.
