Who picks the winner of the Polaris Music Prize, you ask? Each year, a Grand Jury of 11 is selected from the greater Polaris jury. They convene in Toronto at the Gala to debate, discuss and ultimately vote on which Short List album most deserves the $20,000 prize.
The Grand Jury for 2009 is:
See that countdown clock above? Notice how we're closing in on Polaris Gala time? That means we will very soon be announcing all the details of this year's really big show: live performers, host and presenters who'll be making magic at our new venue; how you can tune in from home or enter an exciting new contest for you and friends to be there with us and — my favourite part — our esteemed Grand Jury selected from across the country who will be gathering in Toronto September 21 to choose the winner.

This just in: We can now spill the beans on this year's Gala, happening September 21 in Toronto where we will crown the $20,000 prize winner.
Some special highlights this year:
New venue, the legendary Masonic Temple, aka The Concert Hall. Music magic has been happening in this building for decades, so we're stoked that MTV Canada is letting us into their fabulous digs for our party.
