Starting today, buying one of the ten albums nominated for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize Short List from select record stores across the national will earn savvy shoppers a bonus free vinyl copy of the Polaris Cover Sessions No. 2.
The three songs on the ten-inch were culled from the Polaris Cover Sessions, an ongoing curated program where past Polaris nominees cover songs from other past Polaris nominees.
Pressed on to elegant translucent blue vinyl by Precision Record Pressing, Polaris Cover Sessions No. 2 features Arkells doing Owen Pallett’s “I Am Not Afraid,” Joel Plaskett covering Feist’s “Bittersweet Melodies” and Zaki Ibrahim’s interpretation of Leonard Cohen’s “Show Me The Place.”

The first Polaris Cover Sessions ten-inch was released last October and featured Whitehorse performing The New Pornographers’ “Bones Of An Idol,” Sarah Harmer performing Caribou’s “Odessa” and Great Lake Swimmers performing Sarah Harmer’s “I’m A Mountain.” That record was also distributed for free-with-purchase through various Canadian record stores.
