The Longer List

Il n’est pas facile pour un album d’obtenir une nomination au Prix de musique Polaris.

Premièrement, l’un des membres officiels de notre jury doit trouver qu’un album est assez digne de considération pour le « suggérer » officiellement au reste du jury du Polaris. C’est ce genre d’appui qui encourage ses pairs à tendre l’oreille à l’album en question. À partir de là, suffisamment de jurés doivent voter pour l’album afin que celui-ci se retrouve sur la longue liste, habituellement dévoilée en juin. Ensuite, en juillet, le jury vote une autre fois, réduisant la longue liste de 40 albums à la courte liste de 10 albums. Le grand jury, composé de 11 membres du jury, débat ensuite le mérite de ces 10 albums lors du gala Polaris (ayant lieu cette année le 19 septembre au Carlu à Toronto) dans le but de déterminer le gagnant du Prix de musique Polaris 2016.

Dans l’univers du Polaris, nous croyons que l’ensemble de la conversation – ce que les gens ont aimé, ce qu’ils n’ont pas aimé, ce qui aurait dû faire la liste, ce qui n’aurait pas dû – est extrêmement précieux. C’est pourquoi nous avons décidé de donner aux plus grands amateurs de musique l’opportunité de découvrir encore plus d’albums qui ont plu à notre jury cette année.

Pour aider à illustrer à quel point le jury du Polaris est investi dans le processus et prend en considération différents albums, nous avons compilé ce qu’on appelle la plus longue liste.

Comprenant 232 titres, cette liste inclut tous les albums qui ont été officiellement suggérés et/ou qui ont reçu au moins un vote en 2016.
