Polaris Has A Podcast Now And Our First Episode Exists

The 2016 Short List is here

The 2016 Polaris Short List

The Polaris Music Prize has launched a new podcast titled… wait for it… the Polaris Podcast.

The Polaris Podcast will explore the rich and intriguing stories behind the Canadian music albums of distinction that have been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and its related Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize.

In the first Polaris Podcast episode host Lana Gay will dig deep with a look at the 10 albums on the 2016 Polaris Music Prize Short List. One of those 10 albums will win this year’s prize at the Polaris Gala on September 19 and we’ve assembled jurors from across the country who’ll explain to Lana why their favourite album should be victorious.

The Polaris jurors featured in this episode include:

Tom Coxworth (CKUA Folk Routes), on Basia Bulat
Tiana Feng (Ride The Tempo), on Grimes
Christine Fortier (Voir, CISM), on Black Mountain
Marie-Ève Fortin (CISM, Le Canal Auditif), on U.S. Girls
Ken Kelley (MusicNerd.ca), on Andy Shauf
Mitch Pollock (CBC q), on PUP
Sarah Sussman (HipHopCanada), on Kaytranada
Jamie Tennant (CFMU, The Captain Of Kinnoull Hill), on Jessy Lanza
Phil Villeneuve (BlogTO, Yo-Homo.com), on Carly Rae Jepsen
Andrea Warner (CBC Music, Exclaim!), on White Lung

Please subscribe because we’ve got lots more in the coming months.
