Cadence Weapon, Metric Lead The Release Roundup For April 24, 2026

It’s a big day for folks who remember the #Polaris2006 Gala from 20 years ago as year-one Short List nominees Cadence Weapon and Metric both have new albums coming out. That first class has ended up faring pretty well in Polarisland over the years, with Owen Pallett scoring four nominations and a win, New Pornographers getting five nominations, Broken Social Scene winning a Heritage Prize and getting two Short List nominations, Malajube getting three nominations, Sarah Harmer getting two, Wolf Parade and its subsidiaries getting about 17, K’naan waving flags and The Deadly Snakes being forever.
Here are this week’s new albums:
* Cadence Weapon (#Polaris2021 winner, 2x Short List, 2x Long List) has released Forager via Six Shooter Records.
* Metric (3x Short List) have released Romanticize the Dive.
* Population II (1x Short List, 1x Long List) have released Gimmicks via Bonsound.
* Dead Bob from Heritage Prize winners NOMEANSNO has released Nothing Changes Everything via Wrong Records.
For your playlist refreshment needs there are new songs from BIG|BRAVE, Lydia Kepinski and Thierry Larose, plus a new Ouri remix, City And Colour getting the world in motion with a Tragically Hip cover, and Yu Su teaming up with Seefeel.
