Gord Downie’s Family Tree, Colin Stetson Lead The Release Roundup For February 13, 2026

We usually calibrate the Release Roundup to highlight the newest albums, but we have the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize now and we need to talk about “Generation,” the first single from the late Gord Downie’s forthcoming live collab album with The Sadies.
“Generation” is both a Fucked Up cover and might be the single most #PolarisPeople song ever created. We’re not going to get too Pete Stamp Rock Family Tree about it, but with this song you’ve got…
* Gord Downie (1x Short List, 1x Long List as a solo act + Heritage Prize winner, 1x Long List as part of The Tragically Hip), who has also worked with Julie Doiron (1x Short List, 1x Long List, Heritage Prize winner).
* The Sadies (2x Short List, 3x Long List), who’ve also worked with 2x Heritage Prize winners Neil Young, Heritage winners Mary Margaret O’Hara, Blue Rodeo, and Rick White (as part of Eric’s Trip).
* Fucked Up (#Polaris2009 winners, 1x Short List, 1x Long List) and who’ve worked with past winner Owen Pallett, past nominees like GUV, The Deadly Snakes, Austra and City And Colour. FU also joined Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew and Tegan & Sara for that funny Christmas song awhile back, and… we’re stopping now.
New albums this week:
* Colin Stetson (2x Short List, 1x Long List) has teamed with Greg Fox and Trevor Dunn to release Nethering.
* The Golden Age Of Wrestling, who we’ve never seen in the same room at the same time as 2024 nominees Devours, has released Sweet Chin Music.
And for playlist refreshment needs that don’t explicitly connect to Gord Downie, Devours, Lydia Kepinski, The New Pornographers, Wintersleep, and Daniel Lanois (who produced Neil Young’s #Polaris2011 nominated album Le Noise) all have new tracks for your ears.
