Taking place at The Belleville Club, the free concert brings together Polaris-recognized artists Thanya Iyer and Cadence Weapon for two performances that reflect the range, imagination and creative risk found across Canadian music.

A Festival Built Around Music and Community
Curated by Polaris nominee Hannah Georgas, Beautiful View is an artist-led festival dedicated to independent music, songwriting and the relationships that form when artists and audiences share space with intention.
Beautiful View celebrates artists whose work is shaped by personal storytelling, experimentation and an authentic connection to their craft. Through its partnership with the 2026 Polaris Festival, the event offers audiences outside Toronto another opportunity to experience Canadian music recognized for its artistic merit and cultural significance.

Thanya Iyer
Thanya Iyer is an enigmatic songwriter whose sparkling, experimental pop music embraces mindfulness, aesthetic beauty, and the interconnectedness of all things. Iyer’s 2025 release, TIDE/TIED, expands on the future-folk of their 2020 Polaris long-listed album, KIND. With washes of jazz-inflected pop and ensemble ambience courtesy of Pompey’s adventurous multi-instrumentalism, and the celestial harp and flute of Emilie Kahn, Thanya Iyer builds a layered musical world that Pitchfork described as “a lucid daydream that’s constantly melting at its edges and hailed by the New York Times as “a haven of wellness.”
Cadence Weapon
A Renaissance man for the Digital Age, Cadence Weapon a.k.a. Rollie Pemberton is rapper/producer/author with a list of accomplishments and credits so long — from receiving industry accolades for his music to receiving awards for critiquing this same industry in his writing — you might wonder what more is there for him to do.
At once encyclopedically historical and presciently future-minded, the Polaris Music Prize winner is known first and foremost for his lyricism: charged commentary and cautionary tales of artificiality, tech-culture, classicism, gentrification, exploitation and more fit beside the self-aware chronicles of his own life and career. Cadence Weapon has made good on the critical acclaim of his early work and still remains at the avant-garde, pushing boundaries and buttons while his signature electronic/industrial sound, a “grimy clarion call,” (Pitchfork) rings on.
An award-winning columnist and contributor to urgent cultural conversations (CBC Commotion, Hazlitt, Mood Machine, docuseries Paid in Full and more), “music industry sage” Cadence Weapon represents the best of the west as Edmonton’s former Poet Laureate.
