Polaris 2015 Long List Reveal In Halifax, Key Dates Announced
The 2015 Polaris Music Prize will be coming to Halifax, Nova Scotia in June.
Steve Jordan, Founder and Executive Director of the Polaris Music Prize, announced today the 40 albums making the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Long List will be revealed at Halifax music venue The Carleton on June 16.
“After bringing the Long List to Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary, we’re excited to be travelling to Canada’s far east. We feel the proceedings will be safely overseen from up on high by the spirits of Thrush Hermit, Stinkin’ Rich, The Guthries, Jale and Hip Club Groove,” said Jordan. The Long List event will be organized in conjunction with the team at Halifax Pop Explosion.
Jordan also revealed the 10 album Short List will be unveiled July 16 at The Carlu in Toronto and the tenth edition of the Polaris Music Prize Gala will take place September 21 at The Carlu. The Gala will once again be streamed live by Aux.tv.
Polaris Prize past winners have included Tanya Tagaq (2014), Godspeed You! Black Emperor (2013), Feist (2012), Arcade Fire (2011), Karkwa (2010), Fucked Up (2009), Caribou (2008), Patrick Watson (2007) and Owen Pallett (2006).
