Polaris People For The Week Of Feb. 3 ““ Tegan And Sara, Caribou, Feist, Great Lake Swimmers And More

· by Aaron Brophy

Polaris Music Prize alumni are everywhere.

Here’s what some of them have been up to this week:

Tegan And Sara, they of the 2010 Short List nomination for “Sainthood,” are hard at work on a new album. They’ve already finished 41 songs for it. That, and they’ve been watching inspiring football movies.

2007 Polaris winner and 2009 Short Lister Patrick Watson will release his/their new album “Adventures In Your Own Back Yard” in April 2012 through Secret City and Domino Records. Will team Watson become the first-ever three-time Short List nominee?

Two-time Polaris nominee K’naan has had a busy week. U.S. Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney used the rapper’s song “Wavin’ Flag” to punctuate a Florida primary victory party, which he didn’t like. And in less controversial news, K’naan’s new EP “More Beautiful Than Silence” is streaming.

Feist, she of the 2007 Short List nod for “The Reminder,” has released a new video for the song “The Bad In Each Other.” View it here.

2009 shorties Great Lake Swimmers have debuted a new video, “Easy Come, Easy Go,” from their upcoming album “New Wild Everything.” See it here.

What do Caribou’s Dan Snaith and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke have in common? A stage. In Switzerland. For their upcoming show together.

Last we heard from Sarah Harmer she was part of a delegation going to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala with Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Jody Williams and Rigoberta Menchu. Apparently Mayan women rule.

Two-time Polaris nominee Joel Plaskett continues to churn out a song a week for his forthcoming “Scrappy Happiness” album. For updates on that, go here.
