Screen and be seen: The HP Polaris 2011 Screening Party!
We're counting down the days to the annual Polaris gala, one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the Canadian music calendar… While the big show is an invite-only affair, watch this space in coming days for ways you can win your way in!
And if you're not one of the lucky few to make it into the Masonic Temple on September 19th, why stay home alone and stare at your computer when you can watch the Polaris gala with friends on a big screen, while helping raise funds for a great cause?
Thanks to a great response last year, The Drake Hotel is once again throwing open its doors the night of the gala for a screening party presented by HP, hosted this year by MuchMoreMusic's Matt Wells.
Tickets are $10 and include complimentary beverages (thanks to the fine folks at SKYY Vodka and Jagermeister) and appetizers, as well as access to the after-party, with all proceeds benefitting the excellent music-education program MusiCounts.
The first 100 entrants will receive a copy of the limited-edition official Polaris 2011 hardcover programme booklet (a much-coveted item usually only bestowed upon gala guests!).
The screening party is also the only place where Polaris fans can enter to win the ultimate VIP upgrade: gala tickets for two, shuttle service to the event in a Scion tC, and a brand-new HP Envy 14 Beats Edition notebook – but you have to be there to win!
And don't forget to check out the full set of limited-edition Polaris split 7-inch vinyl singles featuring select nominees (more details to come!) that will be up for auction that night.
Tickets for the screening party are available at the door only – doors open at 7:15 p.m., and capacity is limited, so be sure to arrive early!
Join in the excitement and come on down to the Drake to see the gala unfold live on the big screen – look for dynamic live performances from nominees Austra, Braids, Galaxie, Hey Rosetta!, Ron Sexsmith, and Timber Timbre as the Grand Jury convenes to select this year's Polaris Prize winner.
