KARA-LIS COVERDALE is a groundbreaking composer, musician, and performer whose work explores themes of memory, identity, embodiment and change through a uniquely cultivated practice rooted in sacred music. She has written, produced, and engineered 5 critically acclaimed solo albums, and has shared her music on stages worldwide, at festivals like Unsound, Musica, Semibreve, Big Ears, Mutek, as well as institutions like the Barbican, MAC Montreal, Elbphilharmonie, and Köln Philharmonie. Coverdale has also produced an array of large-scale commissions for the Tallis Scholars, GRM Paris, Vanemuine Theatre, Ensemble Triskele, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Cello Quartet, and Krakow Sinfonietta. Other creative opportunities have seen her collaborate with artists like Yasuaki Shimizu, Moses Sumney, Caterina Barbieri, Actress, and many more. She began music studies at age 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music and was a church organist at age 12. She has been touring internationally since reaching worldwide acclaim with her album Aftertouches in 2016.
