Artist Bio

Canevas is a drumless jazz trio featuring Alexander Ravvin on guitar, Vincent Bolduc on saxophone and Oscar Robertson on double bass. Through the swing idiom, the members of Canevas strive to create a warm and earthy sound favoring collective improvisation within arrangements reminiscent of the big band era. The trio’s unusual instrumentation as well as each musician’s unique contributions help the ensemble achieve a vast array of textural possibilities. Pursuing the tradition of drumless trios such as ones led by Ed Bickert, Jim Hall and Oscar Pettiford; Canevas offers listeners a mature yet accessible swing-based repertoire of original compositions.
