Did you just find yourself at a warehouse party somewhere in the mid-west? Or maybe a prairie Ukrainian community hall? These rustbelt roosters keep you guessing. Manitoba-based Bluebloods play music that feels like a gaggle of hosers crashing a Mennonite Social, with groove tunes and smoky ballads that explore Manitoba’s historic strikes, urban back allies and wheat fields.

Bluebloods’ core is COURTNEY DEVON on vocals, SAM LITTLE on bass, and CONRAD SWEATMAN on electronics and guitar Manitoba Indigenous rapper CRISTO JONAS WILSON (CJ the Grey), from Cross Lake Manitoba, is also a frequent stage and studio collaborator. It also features Malik Mungo (the Free Label), Felix Fox (BadBadNotGood), Alec Meen (Mac DeMarco), as well as members of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

Discount Everything follows on Bluebloods’ 2019 EP, Make It Rain, which the Winnipeg Free Press called a “profound statement of intent from an emerging artist whose work will soon be sought after” in their four-star review of the album.

WTF COULD INSPIRE THIS HOT MESS?

The mid-west and prairies are often regarded as fly-over country. Culturally backwards, homogeneous, and unfriendly to “big city” culture and sounds like house music, jazz and hip hop. Bluebloods is one Winnipeg band among a growing number, that runs against this perception.

Bluebloods’ storytelling is uncompromisingly regional unfolding against a backdrop of prairie skies and isolated towns. They channel an authentic “prairie pluralism” that has always been vital to the region but not always immediately obvious to outsiders.
