The Manic Boys And Girls Club is a Toronto-based alternative indie pop/rock duo formed by siblings Basilio Fernando Ferreira and Bela Ferreira. Blending soaring melodies, lush synthesizers, overdriven guitars, and emotionally honest songwriting, the duo creates music that balances vulnerability with anthemic energy.

Raised in a strict Portuguese Catholic household, the siblings spent much of their childhood between Canada and rural Portugal, where they lived with their grandmother, a former Catholic nun. Their bicultural upbringing and experiences navigating identity, family expectations, and belonging have become defining influences on their songwriting. The result is music that explores nostalgia, resilience, relationships, mental health, and the search for freedom with sincerity and cinematic scope.

The project began as a creative outlet between brother and sister and quickly evolved into a distinctive voice within Canada’s independent music scene. Their breakthrough came after crossing paths with acclaimed Canadian producer Gavin Brown, whose collaboration helped shape their debut EP, The Manic Boys And Girls Club. The five-song release was produced by Gavin Brown, mixed by Dave Mohaci, mastered by LANDR, and features songs written by Basilio Fernando Ferreira and Bela Ferreira, with music and instrumental compositions by Basilio Fernando Ferreira.
Known for dynamic live performances that move effortlessly between intimate storytelling and explosive indie rock, The Manic Boys And Girls Club have built a growing audience through touring, festival appearances, and a string of singles including “Blacked Out,” “We’ll Be Fine,” “Lose My Mind,” “Sorry,” and “Last Train.” Their music has earned international streaming audiences and recognition for its heartfelt lyricism, infectious hooks, and genre-blending sound.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as The National, Amy Winehouse, My Chemical Romance, John Frusciante, and The Flaming Lips, The Manic Boys And Girls Club continues to push beyond conventional indie rock, creating songs that invite listeners to find connection, escape, and hope.
