Artist Bio
Henry Adam Svec has been performing across Canada for the past twenty years, from St. John’s to Windsor to Dawson City. Having worked under a variety of monikers—Peter Mansbridge and the CBCs, The Boy from ET, The CFL Sessions, Folk Songs of Canada Now, and LIVINGSTON—the throughline has been a rigorous and playful approach to character construction and world building through music.
The Talbot Trail Boys is his most recent project. The self-titled debut album is framed as a long-lost collection of haunting alt-country tracks recorded by three brothers in the barn on their family’s fruit farm in Deep Southwestern Ontario in 1993. Produced by Svec himself and engineered by Simon Larochette (The Sugar Shack), with additional engineering, mixing, and mastering by Andy Magoffin (House of Miracles), the album additionally features an all-star lineup of Canadian indie rock and folk players, including WL Altman (Sbot n Wo), Misha Bower (Bruce Peninsula), Evan Brodie (Olenka & the Autumn Lovers), J.J. Ipsen (Hayden), Nathan Lawr (Royal City), Andrew Penner (Sunparlour Players), and Nathan Smith (The Barrel Boys). A six-part scripted podcast series, Souwesto Gothic: The Case of the Talbot Trail Boys, also written and produced by Svec, which explores the epic tragedy of The Talbot Trail Boys, has been released alongside the music (www.souwestogothic.com).
“Svec exhibits the acumen of Marshall McLuhan, the heart of Rita MacNeil, and the meticulous truthfulness of Farley Mowat.” – Sean Michaels, Scotiabank Giller Prize winner and author of The Wagers.
