Happy conflicted capitalism day to those of you scoring Black Friday deals, those of you finding some rare slices for Record Store Day Canada Day, and for those of you smugly sitting it all out. For our part, Polaris is gonna be putting the “give” into Giving Tuesday next week so stay tuned for us flipping the script on that one.
Say what you will about this Holy Day of Commerce, but it has meant a number of special album releases from some big name #PolarisPeople:

* Blue Rodeo (1x Heritage Prize, 1x Long List) have released Songs Seldom Heard.
* Heritage Prize winners The Band have released a coloured, two-LP edition of Jericho, and late member Robbie Robertson has released Filmworks: Insomnia.

* Heritage Prize winner Joni Mitchell has released Rolling Thunder Revue.

In the category of playlist refreshment needs, Dan Mangan, Rae Spoon (covering Charli XCX), Chilly Gonzales, Coeur De Pirate, Tim Baker and Les Louanges all have new songs out.
