Since 2006, Polaris has commissioned Canadian visual artists to create unique artworks inspired by a Short Listed album, offering vivid new interpretations of the music. Polaris then works with a Canadian screen printing house to develop limited edition silk-screen prints honouring nominees and commemorating the event.
Over 200 original pieces have been commissioned through this program and are available for sale, with all proceeds supporting Polaris’s charitable programs. Browse the collection here.
Several pieces have gone on to win design prizes of their own from the likes of the Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts Annual. Selections from our archives have been exhibited at the National Arts Centre, the Canada Council for the Arts, the London Museum and featured in Heritage Toronto’s Sounds Like Toronto digital music history project. Additionally, our prints are prominently displayed in the offices of leading cultural and music institutions.
